Let’s Talk About Rage

It’s a subject that makes some folks uncomfortable, but what the heck. Let’s talk about rage anyway. Where does it come from? Why is it perceived so differently between people? What are the positives and the negatives of rage?

On Friday, October 2nd at 10am PST, I host the amazing Iyeshka Farmer in a live interview. Iyeshka is a Registered Professional Counsellor, Psychotherapist, and trauma healing specialist; a professional trainer, consultant and internationally-known facilitator.

The reason for this interview is that I have lots of questions and few to no answers. Iyeshka will likely have answers. That’s it. That’s my reason for doing this. Just curiosity. And the thought that someone else out there might be curious as well.

In 2017, I wrote a solo show “Shield Maiden”. The play explores the subject of women’s rage. We will use my experience writing/performing as a jumping off place. I’m historically a very gentle, nurturing person. I will share how I accessed rage in order to portray a woman warrior on stage. You will also get a behind the scenes look at the effect working with rage for three years has had on my life off the stage. You might be very surprised by what you hear!

Follow my new facebook page Melanie Teichroeb for details of this event. It will be a live event that will be accessible later both on facebook and here on my website. The topic for this conversation was chosen because protests on all sides of the spectrum are mounting and intensifying. The aperture for public discourse feels like it’s narrowing and every opinion seems to be met with an instant reaction..often an enraged one. I’m curious – why?

Has covid caused this reaction? I’m assuming it’s rage, but is it? What are the implications? And what can we learn from this time?

I also want to know more about the differences between women and men’s expressions of rage. As well, what is the difference between rage and anger?

Here are some stage shots of me as my character, Ingrid. Tune in to our interview session Friday, October 2nd at 10am PST for the deeper dive into rage.
