Melanie Teichroeb is a playwright and performer. Her first play, Shield Maiden, came out of the gate kicking and turning heads. However, the pandemic shut down stages everywhere and ground her scheduled tour to a halt. Melanie’s creativity did not stop. In 2020-2021, she wrote, directed and produced a short film, Sweating With Strangers. Melanie also wrote a new play, Welcome to the Bardo! which is set for production in the spring of 2022.

Melanie Teichroeb views writing and performance art as a way to connect deeply with people through shared emotions and experiences. She observed and asked questions for a long time before she stepped forward as an artist. Therefore, that innate curiosity is now cemented in her process. She has no trouble pushing buttons and boundaries.

Melanie is mother to a fierce daughter and partner to a man who does a darned good job of keeping up. Proud native Texan by birth. Grateful Canadian by choice. Melanie lives on a Gulf Island off the west coast of Canada.
